DEHRADUN, 13 Sep: The notification for the three- phase panchayat elections in Uttarakhand was issued, here, today. The notification has been issued by the State Election Commission. Conducting the panchayat as well as Urban Local Bodies polls is the responsibility of the State Election Commission. Polling in Uttarakhand will begin on 6 October, when the first phase will be held. The second phase of polling is scheduled to be held on 11 October, while the third phase will be on 16 October. Counting of votes will be done simultaneously on 21 October. As the panchayat bodies in Haridwar district have not completed their term, no panchayat polls will be held there. According to the State Election Commission, nominations will be filed from 20 September to 24 September. The Model Code of Conduct will be in force in the rural areas of the state, though this is bound to affect the decision making in the government, in general, till the panchayat polls are over. In Haridwar district, the Model Code of Conduct will not be applicable like the urban areas of the state.
