Asian School scores win in Col Shashi Memorial Cricket Tournament

Dehradun, 26 Apr: The only match of the day played today in the Col Shashi Memorial Cricket Tournament for Under-14, affiliated to the ‘Schools’ Cricket Federation of India’, at Cambrian Hall, here, was between The Asian School (TAS) and Delhi Public School (DPS).
TAS won the toss and opted to bat first. Viplov and Abhudaya opened the innings. Both the openers tried to stabilise the innings when Viplov was declared LBW at his individual score of 12, while Abhyudaya made 34 in 22 balls, hitting 5 fours and a six. Aarav came in after the fall of Viplov’s wicket and was severe on all the bowlers. He was unbeaten on 108, which he made in 53 balls hitting 22 fours. Priyanshu contributed 41 in 24 balls. As many as 57 runs were given away as extras by DPS bowlers. Finally, TAS made 253 for the loss of 3 wickets in its allotted 20 overs. Tushar and Shaurya took one wicket, each.
Chasing the huge score of 253, Akshat and Tushar opened the innings for DPS. Akshat couldn’t open his account, while Abhshek made 5, Akshit, 4, Avnish, 7 and Devik, 6. Tushar was the only batsman who could stay on one end and made 30. TAS bowlers gave away 20 extras. Finally, DPS was all out for 76 in 15.1 overs. Sumit, Aarav, Krishna and Abhyudaya took 2 wickets, each, while Viplov got one wicket. TAS won the match by 177 runs and qualified for the Quarter Finals.
