DEHRADUN, 11 Feb: It was a googly from government that took BPEd/MPEd teachers by surprise. The BPEd/MPEd Sangathan members were expecting government to provide them jobs in ‘Prathamic’, ‘Uccha Prathamic’ and ‘Madhyamic Vidhyalays’. Sangathan members were expecting that government would provide them permanent jobs. But, when they met Chief Minister Harish Rawat, last night, they came to know that government was planning to provide them jobs on contractual basis. Surprised at the decision, Sangathan members have asserted that they are demanding a permanent job, not contractual ones. After a meeting at Lansdowne Chowk, all the members of the sangathan have demanded permanent jobs for themselves on priority basis. They have added a clause to their demands that, if government fails to provide them permanent jobs, then it should make appointments on all 15000 vacant posts on contractual basis. Now, the ball is in the government’s court. The protestors are awaiting the government reply. The CM has reportedly said that he would look into their matter and see what could be done in their case. The decision on their case may be taken at the next cabinet meeting.
