Postal Workers on two day strike

DEHRADUN, 12 Feb: Akhil Bhartiya Dak Karamchari Sangharsh Samiti (All India Postal Workers Sangharsh Samiti) members stated a dharna outside GPO at Clock Tower. Samiti workers are on a two day countrywide strike for their fifteen point charter of demands. Samiti has asked the central government to fulfill eight terms of reference given by National Council J.C.M Staff Side. It includes revival of salary of all central government employees in five years. They demanded to remove all restriction on contractual based appointments. They asked to fill all vacant post and to create new posts. Members are also demanding to end downsizing, outsourcing, contract system and privatization from all government work. Members are also demanding to revise overtime and night duty allowances and to provide five promotions to them during their service. Samiti has made it clear that if central government does not wakeup after this two days strike at the national level, then they would be forced to launch a more severe agitation at the national level. In Dehradun the agitation was lead by B.D. Bhatt.
