Dehradun, 18 Apr: Dr Gaurav Luthra, Eye Surgeon and Chief of Cataract & Lasik Surgery at Drishti Eye Institute, here, made Doon Valley proud, once again, by winning the Toughest Surgery Video Challenge at the 70th Annual DOS (Delhi Ophthalmic Society) Conference, which was held from 12 to 14 April at Hotel Ashoka, New Delhi.
Dr Gaurav Luthra was crowned “The King” in “The Game of Ophthalmic Thrones”, a competition in which several top Eye Surgeons of the country competed. Around 3000 eye surgeons attended the Conference.
In addition, he delivered guest lectures on newer techniques in Cataract and SMILE surgery for removing spectacles, besides demonstrating live surgery of a difficult cataract case to the delegates.
Drishti Eye Institute and Dr Luthra, in particular, have been largely responsible for bringing Dehradun on the International map of medical tourism, drawing patients from far and wide seeking specialised quality treatment for Retinal disorders, advanced cataract surgery and LASIK/ SMILE surgery for spectacles removal among others.
Dr Gaurav Luthra, a past president, is currently the Chairman for Academics and Research of the Intraocular Implant & Refractive Society of India, besides being the Honorary Secretary of the Uttarakhand State Ophthalmological Society.
