Grand Celebrations at GNA of Guru Nanak’s 550th Birth Anniversary

DEHRADUN, 8 Nov: The Grand Finale of the celebrations on the occasion of the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev took place at GNA grounds, here, today. Present were 2000 students, teachers, parents and guests. The GNA Choir sang four shabads – Bandana Har Bandana; Jo Mange Thakur Apnete; Satgur Nanak Pargetya; and Awal Allah Noorupaya. Then nine prize winning speeches were given in English, Hindi and Punjabi. The tiny tots rendered a melodious Satnam Jaap and Mool Mantra Jaap. Students of classes II and III recited short verses from the Gurbani, and Zorawar House and Jujhar House also recited gurbani shabads. Among the guests in the audience were MLAs Harbans Kapoor, Umesh Sharma ‘Kau’ and George Mann. They awarded the prize winners for the Essay Competitions; Questionnaires; Recitations and Speeches. The Chairman, GNA, S Harcharan Singh, Vice Chairman S Vimaldeep Singh, and Member of the BOG, S Sukhwinder Singh also presented prizes, along with BS Soni of the BJP and S Harinder Singh Juneja, Director, Adroit Programming School. Principal, GNA, PS Kalra proposed the vote of thanks. He expressed gratitude to Giani Jaspreet Singh for his enlightening sermon to students, and Bhai Charanjeet Singh for singing melodious shabads. Swarleen Kaur and Shivangi Srivastava conducted the function. Mementos and School Souvenirs released on the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev were presented to all the guests. Guru Ka Langar was served later and all tasted the Prasad.
