Pramukh holds talk on ‘Sustainable Living’ at Welfare Society

Dehradun, 8 Jul: Pramukh held interactive session on ‘Doing our bit for sustainable living’ at Arborea Luxury Homes Welfare Society close to Sahastradhara Road. The aim was to educate people about the Government of India Rules and Regulations on Waste Management and associated problems of Environmental and Plastic Pollution, as well as the impact of the ban on plastics and corresponding effect on animals and human beings, as also the and ways and means available by which one could contribute.
The talk by Paramjeet Singh Kakkar, Secretary, Pramukh, and Director-Projects, included sustainable management of waste, especially segregation at source of different types of wastes especially those that are injurious to health, disposal of waste area wise and not dumping at one place which further spoils the surroundings and environment, recycling or reuse of certain items that can be utilised for beautifying or helping those who need it.
Practically all participated in the interaction and gave their views or suggestions and disclosed how they were presently carrying out waste disposal. They were told how, by using leaves that are normally burnt – spoiling the environment and adding to global warming – compost can be made without much effort by simply sprinkling it with a little water and occasional turning over so that they get sufficient air needed for the process. It is a neat and clean method that does not produce any mosquitoes or create any smell. Pramukh helps in installing such bays and guides in running them wherever required, but the main effort is required from the societies that get these installed.
Prominent persons who attended the presentation from Arborea included Namita, Vice President, Shagun, Secretary Badoni, Mr Tomar, Sateesh Dabral, Namrata Raina and Puneet Basur. Those who participated from Pramukh included Brig KG Behl, President, Nitin Shah, Dr SS Negi, Beena Negi, Gurmehar and SK Tyagi, Principal, Col Brown School.
