Uniyal opposes plan to privatise toll barriers in Mussoorie
By OUR STAFF REPORTER | Mon, 10 -Feb, 2014

Mussoorie, 9 Feb: At a press conference held here, today, by former Nagar Palika Chairman OP Uniyal, it was alleged that not even a single stone had been laid for the development of the town by the Nagar Palika Administration under the leadership of new Chairman Manmohan Singh Mall. Due to this, the development of the town had been affected, to the extent that all the development projects implemented during his regime had also been shut down.
Uniyal alleged that Mall and his fellow board members were trying to privatise the Mussoorie Mall Road Barriers and Kholukhet Eco Tax Barriers under a conspiracy. He recalled that Manmohan Singh, earlier, was the first to oppose the proposal of the Nagar Palika Administration to privatise both the barriers - now he wanted to do himself so that a huge scam could be carried out with the help of the contractors. Uniyal said that instead of denouncing Nagar Palika workers and officers, the Chairman should improve his own functioning.
He warned that, if the proposal on privatising both the barriers was not withdrawn, an agitation would begin against Mall and the Palika Administration.
He also congratulated Harish Rawat on becoming the CM and demanded his intervention to prevent the alleged corruption underway at the Nagar Palika. He also demanded an inquiry into the functioning of the Board.
