Wreath Laying Ceremony held at IMA

DEHRADUN, 7 Dec: The traditional Wreath Laying Ceremony was held at the War Memorial, Indian Military Academy, this morning. The solemn ceremony is held every term as a precursor to the Passing Out Parade. The ceremony is to pay homage to the brave alumni of this prestigious training academy, who have laid down their lives in keeping with the highest traditions of sacrifice to uphold the honour of the Nation.

IMA Commandant Lt Gen SK Jha, along with officers and the Academy Under Officer, on behalf of the passing out course laid wreaths and offered floral tributes to the gallant martyrs.

The Sanctum Sanctorum of the War Memorial is a seven and a half foot bronze statue of a Gentleman Cadet saluting with a sword. To the rear of the statue are designed arches on which are etched the names of the 854 valiant alumni, who have sacrificed their lives till date.

On this occasion, the 427 Cadets passing out on 8 December resolved to keep the rich traditions of the Indian Army and Nation’s flag always flying high.

Also present to pay homage to the martyrs at the event were two former Commandants, Lt General GS Negi (Retd) and Lt Gen KK Khanna (Retd), and two former Adjutants, Maj Gen Rajinder Singh (Retd) and Col Rakesh Nair.
