19th Symposium on Phytochemistry & Ayurveda held

Dehradun, 24 Dec: A Symposium on ‘Phytochemistry and Ayurveda: Potential and Prospects’ was successfully concluded virtually today.
The Chief Guest was Subodh Uniyal, Minister of Agriculture, Uttarakhand. The keynote address was given by Dr Himmat Singh and Dr Varsha Parcha conducted the programme. Dr IP Saxena presented a brief report on UJPAH.
Minister Uniyal, while addressing the participants, spoke about the significance of farming of Herbs in Uttarakhand. There was need to find more of unexplored herbs. Uttarakhand being rich in biodiversity, there was need for further research on herbs and herbal products to ensure their efficacy. Such symposiums would boost the development of the state.
Guest of Honour Prof SK Joshi, Vice Chancellor of Uttarakhand Ayurveda University, and Doon University, said that Ayurveda is the only way out because new variants of Corona were appearing now.
Dr RK Singh, VC, SBS University, spoke about the vaccine for Corona, reminding that there are ten different variants of Corona virus in India. Genomic sequencing was important to develop a vaccine.
Dr Sanjay Naithani announced the results of the Poster Presentation. The winners were Anil Kumar and AparnaUniyal– Ist position; Sukanya Chhetri and Versha Parcha, 2nd position; Raghib Ali and Rashid Husain, 3rd, and a consolation prize was announced for Iqra Fatima.
Dr Varsha Pacha announced the results of the Oral presentation – Saurav Jain, Ist position, Rashmi, 2nd position, and Amita Dimri, 3rd position.
Dr IP Pandey proposed the vote of thanks.
