Dehradun, 10 May: Uttaranchal University, in collaboration with SPECS Dehradun, organised a Junior Hackathon today for school students. The Junior Hackathon is a cutting-edge trans-disciplinary event aimed at encouraging and empowering young minds from 6 to 12 classes. It provides a platform to build a creative solution to problems in different themes. A total of 40 teams participated in the event from various schools.
The event was inaugurated by Vice President Ankita Joshi and Vice Chancellor Prof. Dharam Buddhi.
Prof Buddhi congratulated students for their participation in such an event. Joshi praised the students for their efforts.
Expert speakers Dr Gulshan Kumar from Sridev Suman Uttarakhand University, Rishikesh, Dr Santosh from AIIIMS Rishikesh, and Dr Brij Mohan Sharma from SPECS shared their expertise with the audience.
Students have come up with innovative working models in the fields of Conserving Water, Reducing Waste, Promoting Recycling, Smart Education, Smart Village, Smart City, and Smart Metering.
After a rigorous evaluation process, prize money worth Rs 1 lakh was presented to the winners of the event. The 1st prize was a tie between Ann Mary School and St Jude’s School. The second prize went to Phool Chand NSM Girls Inter College and DAV Centenary School. The third prize was awarded to Social Baluni Public School, Doon International School Riverside Campus, and Scholars Home. The consolation prize went to Doon Laurels Academy and HSBM Jain Girls Inter College.
The event was concluded by Director of Research & Innovation Dr Rajesh Singh and was conducted by Dr Anita Gehlot and Neeti Mishra.
