DEHRADUN, 28 Apr: Reaping the benefits of technology, members of three toastmasters clubs based in Dehradun came together on Sunday to conduct the Area Level Toastmasters International Speech Contest.
The contest was presided over by TM Robin, who made everyone familiar with the rules of the contest.
While the first contestant, TM Deepak, spoke about the outlook and perspective towards looking at challenges, TM Manu highlighted the importance of building a ‘New world’ and TM Rupesh, with his jovial anecdotes, spoke about ‘From a point to a corner’.
On the other hand, TM Ashima, TM Ratika and TM Manjeet Kaur competed for the table topic contest by expressing their thoughts on the extempore topic, “Stars shine brightest in the dark”. All the speeches were timed by TM Prashant.
The judges had a hard time, but after mutual discussion and on consultation with the chief judge, TM Rita Sandhu, decided to adjudge TM Manu Chopra as the best speaker and TM Ashima as the best table topic speaker. They will represent the area in the Divisional level competition to be held soon.
