Mussoorie, 28 Apr:  Gen Next Education Inc, Woodbury, USA, conducted a Seminar based on “Career Options after Class XII’ in Oak Grove School, here, on Saturday. Students of class X to XII participated in the programme.
Girish C Ballolla, CEO of Gen Next Education, said that his organisation helped US Universities internationalise their campuses. He added that the entire process of child development coincided with the years of schooling. This was the most defining phase of life. However, the environment becomes relatively complex and the child faces a variety of social, interpersonal, physical and emotional problems which need to be resolved. Schooling is only a part of the broader educational activity and mainly concerned with meeting the instructional objectives of education. Regular Guidance and Counseling, if provided at this juncture, can help the child maximise his/her capacities and in self-actualisation.
Siddartha Luthra, University Counselor, stated that CBSE was the first and perhaps the only Board of education in the country which had been providing psychological counseling services to the stakeholders since 1998. The counseling services not only provided psychological support to students and parents but also helped the Board define trends and improvements when real time responses were analyzed with the purpose of gauging the need and scope of the support services available in the schools.
Rex Cone, International Admission Recruiter, Columbia, stated that conventional wisdom should be given its due importance in the choice of career and the students should give their best shot to excel in their lives. During the seminar the students also asked many questions related to their career options.
Ankush Yadav, a student of Class–XI, said that the career counseling session was very interactive and informative. Also present at the counseling session were Vinay Kumar, Dr Atul Kumar Saxena, RN Yadav, AK Sengar, Neelu, Nisha Shalini and GD Raturi.
