CM orders measures to put all public services online

Dehradun, 4 May: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the officials concerned to put all possible public services online and to pay attention to simplifying online procedures.

He was chairing a meeting of the ITDA in Dehradun, here, today. The CM stressed that people should get access to all the facilities easily on a single platform. For this, all the departments related to public facilities should be brought under one umbrella. More services should be added under the Right to Services.

Dhami insisted that, with the speedy development of technology, the benefits of the services should be made available rapidly to the general public. The public should also be made fully aware about the services being provided online. Wide publicity should be disseminated among the people in this regard. In order to ensure that young persons get adequate employment and self-employment opportunities, all departments would have to work fast in the direction of promoting employment.

The CM added that Higher Education and Technical Education Departments will have to work in coordination to promote self-employment. Along with higher education, special attention should be paid towards skill development among the youth. Education should be made more employment oriented. The Chief Minister issued these instructions to the officers during the review of ITDA and Industries Department to achieve the targets of Strong Uttarakhand @ 25 held at the Secretariat today.

The CM directed the officers to include more public services under the purview of The Right To Services Act so that people can easily get the benefit of most of the services from a single platform while sitting at home. He also asked the officials to resolve the problem of mobile and internet connectivity wherever such a problem exists. The general public should be able to avail full benefit of various government schemes in accordance with their eligibility, and get all the information with one click. He added that long term plans should be made by the departments keeping in view the future requirements.

During the review of the Industries Department, the CM directed the officers to expedite the work on schemes aided or financed by the Government of India. He said that there are many possibilities of employment in the industrial sector, along with skill development, attention is also required to be paid to connect the youth with employment and self-employment opportunities. There should be more industrial activities in the state, investors from outside should be proactively promoted. He said that the big projects of various departments which are not progressing at desirable pace will be reviewed soon. The Chief Minister said that to utilise the government land for any project and purpose, proper care should be taken to see that it is done strictly in accordance with the Master Plan. He said that the number of tourists is increasing rapidly in Mussoorie and Nainital. In view of this, adequate arrangements should be made to ensure that tourists and local people do not have to pass through heavy traffic jams.

It was stated at the meeting that 485 services are being provided to the people through the Apni Sarkar portal, out of which 265 services are already included under the Right to Service Act. Work is in progress to add more services under this act. Efforts are being made to generate more sources of income in the field of information technology. In the meeting, it was further claimed that to promote employment generation, work is being done to strengthen connectivity, digital literacy and skill development. Continuous efforts are being made by the Industries Department to promote self-employment schemes.

Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Secretaries R Meenakshi Sundaram, Shailesh Bagoli, Director General, UCOST, Prof Durgesh Pant,  Additional Secretary Vijay Kumar Jogdande, Director General, Industries, Rohit Meena, Director, ITDA, Nitika Khandelwal, Additional Secretaries Navneet Pandey, Manoj Pant were among those present at the meeting.
