CHAMPAWAT, 19 Jan: Former president of Uttarakhand Cooperative Council, Hayat Singh Mahra has passed away at his ancestral home in district Champawat on Thursday. Many people related to the cooperative sector besides Cooperative Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat have expressed grief over the demise of Mahara at the age of 72. Considered to be an top expert in running of the cooperative bodies, Mahra leaves behind a legacy of dedication and knowledge in the field of cooperative development.
Mahra was known for his deep understanding of cooperative societies in Uttarakhand and his contribution to the growth and sustainability of the cooperative movement in the region. His expertise and leadership have left a lasting impact on the cooperative sector, and his demise is deeply felt by those who had the privilege of working with him.
Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat has expressed grief over the loss of “a valuable member” of the cooperative community. He said that the absence of Hayat Singh Mahra would be greatly felt, especially in the field of cooperative development, where his knowledge and guidance were highly valued. Dr Rawat said that, in his role as Chairman of Uttarakhand Cooperative Council, Mahra had demonstrated a strong commitment to the principles of cooperation and the betterment of the cooperative.
It may be recalled that Mahra was elected Chairman of District Cooperative Bank Ltd Pithoragarh for the first time in 1989 and remained the Chairman of the bank for five consecutive terms. This was the reason he had ground knowledge of cooperative banks and cooperative societies.
Uttarakhand Cooperative Department has also expressed its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members of Hayat Singh Mahra.
