Dehradun, 17 Apr: Petroleum Conservation Research Association and Oil & Gas Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG), are organising a campaign to sensitise the masses on conservation and efficient use of petroleum products towards achieving twin objectives of better health & environment and securing availability of Oil & Gas for future generations. The campaign is named SAKSHAM 2022 (Sanrakshan Kshamta Mahotsava) in which a number of activities are being carried out based on the theme of the event.
The Saksham Cyclothon was organised at Dehradun to create awareness about Oil & Gas Conservation and to spread the message of the urgency to conserve petroleum products. A large number of students and employees participated in the rally. Adequate safety and security arrangements had been made covering a distance of around 5 kilometres. The Cyclothon started and terminated at the KV ONGC ground.
The programme began with a welcome speech by Pawan Kumar, DGM (FS) I/c Sports, who explained the necessity for celebrating SAKSHAM. He emphasised that the efforts on conservation of energy should be made by each and every one in day to day activities. The programme was rejuvenated with a Zuma dance, before the arrival of the Chief Guest.
Chief Guest Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’, Mayor, Dehradun, and Head, Corporate Administration, RS Narayani, addressed the gathering.
The pledge to commit to saving energy was administered, both, in Hindi and English.
Chief Guest Sunil Uniyal Gama flagged off the rally. He advised all the participants to make maximum efforts to save natural resources by following simple conservation steps to secure future of next generation.
RS Narayani said that energy security of the nation is the prime responsibility of everybody.
Participation prizes were given to all participants.
