Chief Minister holds special review meeting on Strong Uttarakhand@25

Dehradun, 1 Apr: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today asserted that a regular review will be held of all the departments in order to achieve the target set by the departments to make Uttarakhand the leading state of the country by 2025. He said that the regular review will ensure speeding of the work done on the grounds so far in respect of the schemes and the projects underway. The CM was holding a review meeting in respect of the performance of various departments under the Strong Uttarakhand @25 Mission at the Secretariat today.
Stressing on timely progress and completion of the projects, the Chief Minister instructed the officials to pay special attention towards adhering to the deadlines fixed for the completion of the project in question. He also told them to accord higher priority to the areas where potential is felt regarding increase in revenue of the state. He added that all the departments should bring the works to the ground with full enthusiasm with long term and short term action plans.
Dhami said that the new financial year has started from 1st April. Soon the action plan of all the departments till March 31, 2024 will be reviewed and it will also be seen what efforts are being made by the departments for achieving the targets and increasing in revenue. The CM also emphasised that in order to increase the income of the hill districts of the state, special efforts are needed to improve the livelihood of the people in this area. He said that the work to be done under the action plan being prepared for increasing the livelihood of the people and increasing the revenue in the state, should be expedited sector-wise. For this, all the departments should work in coordination. All the departments should pay special attention to what important achievements can be achieved for the state by 2025.
CM Dhami said that there are many possibilities to work in the fields of tourism, agriculture, horticulture and industry in the state. Along with the short-term action plan in these areas, fast work should be done in the direction of what can be improved by 2030. From these sectors where employment opportunities will increase for the people in the state, the GDP of the state will also increase rapidly. He said that some new tourist and religious places should be developed in the Kumaon region so that the devotees coming on the Chardham Yatra can also enjoy the natural beauty of Kumaon along with Garhwal. He also gave instructions to connect the entire Uttarakhand through various circuits from the point of view of tourism. He felt that there are many possibilities in the field of adventure tourism in the state, work should be done fast in the direction of developing new places of adventure tourism in Uttarakhand. Attention should also be paid towards further development of the tourist places where adventure activities are taking place.
In the meeting, the Chief Minister directed the officials that more efforts be made to promote the local products of the state. Focus should be on branding and marketing of local products. Work on Apple and Kiwi mission should be expedited. Cultivation of aromatic plants should be promoted in hill areas. In addition to degree courses in higher educational institutions in the state, attention should also be paid to conducting diploma courses related to skill development. In order to promote economic activities in the state, work towards simplification of policies was also emphasised. The Chief Minister said that arrangements be made for training the youth of the state in areas where the demand for skilled human resources is increasing globally.
In the detailed presentation given in the meeting, it was informed that works based on various activities will be done in the tourism sector in the state by 2030. Work is being done on a comprehensive action plan to prepare for the arrival of 1 crore tourists and devotees every year in Uttarakhand. With this, 5 lakh people will get direct and indirect employment in the state. For this, along with developing new tourist and religious places in the state, special attention will be paid to the development of infrastructure facilities. Home stay will be promoted rapidly. To increase the productivity of apple by 2030, the government has set a target of making an additional investment of Rs 1500 to Rs 2000 crores, which is expected to increase the additional GDP of 2,500 crores. With this, a target has been set to increase the income of about 30 thousand farmers by up to 10 times.
In the meeting, Chief Secretary Dr SS Sandhu, Additional Chief Secretaries Radha Raturi, Anand Vardhan, Secretaries R Meenakshi Sundaram, Shailesh Bagoli, Dr Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Vijay Kumar Yadav, SN Pandey, Director General UCOST Prof Durgesh Pant, Senior Partner from McKenzie Amit Kher, Abhishek Bawel and other representatives were present.
