Gentlemen Cadets felicitated for Stellar Performance at IMA

Dehradun, 7 Dec: The Award Ceremony of the Autumn Term-22 Passing Out Courses comprising the 151 Regular Course and 134 Technical Graduate Course was conducted at the                      Chetwode Hall, IMA, here, today. Gentlemen Cadets were felicitated by the Commandant, Indian Military Academy, Lt General Vijay Kumar Mishra. He bestowed medals and awards on the outstanding Gentlemen Cadets who excelled in various fields during their pre-commission training at the Academy.

The training imparted to the Gentlemen Cadets at Indian Military Academy is designed to provide a comprehensive knowledge of military fundamentals and leadership, as well as proficiency in basic military skills. It aims to develop the qualities of character, intellect, fitness and competence needed by future ready officers, who at all times in their careers must be prepared to lead.

On the occasion, Gentlemen Cadets and Foreign Gentlemen Cadets from Friendly Foreign Countries were felicitated.

The Commandant, in his address, mentioned that the country demands willing, unhesitating, unfaltering obedience and loyalty from each young officer. He further elaborated that leadership is composite of a number of qualities. Among the most important are self-confidence, moral ascendancy, self-sacrifice, fairness, initiative, decision, dignity and courage. He also said it is important for an officer to maintain a competitive streak within the parameters of sportsmanship and fair play at all times. In the profession of arms, it is always a collective and a team effort that is important and there are no runners up in war. The battle-field of tomorrow is going to be complicated and complex. For that, one needs to have an open mind which is flexible and precise. Resilience will make the difference between the victor and the vanquished. Let Duty, Honour and Courage be the beacons that guide the path through the turbulent times. As they often say – “Trail Dust is thicker than blood”. Soon as officers all will experience this intangible bond of the Band of Brothers. The Commandant emphasised the “Never Say Die Attitude” and the urge “To Pursue Excellence”.

The Commandant commended all for having achieved such high standards and wished the course all the success and glory ahead in the various arms and services allotted to them.

The Commandant’s Banner went to Bhagat Battalion for standing overall first in Inter Battalion Championship. The DG Sigs Silver Trophy went to Thimayya Battalion for standing overall first in Inter Company IT Competition. A large number of individual and collective trophies and medals were awarded on the occasion in numerous disciplines.
