Nainital, 17 Jun: Governor Baby Rani Maurya visited two home-stays and the Bhimtal Indo-Dutch Farm, here, today.
She saw the amenities available at the Clifton Home Stay at Ayarpata, and the Silent Valley Home Stay at Alchauna Village.
Describing the Home Stay scheme of the Uttarakhand Government as significant, she said these should be well publicised to get an appropriate response. The village youth needed to be informed about the advantages of developing home stays and provided training in hospitality and management.
She added that people also needed to know the availability of loans to run such places, so that self-employment could get a boost.
She inspected the floriculture and food processing efforts underway at the Indo-Dutch Farm and asked that the technology be taken to the local farmers.
Present on the occasion were administrative and departmental officials.
