Dehradun, 16 May: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had assigned the responsibility of monitoring the Yatra for Badrinath to Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal and for Kedarnath Dham to Cabinet Minister Dhan Singh Rawat. Following this, Dhan Singh Rawat has returned after an on-site inspection of Kedarnath Dham. Following his return, Rawat today claimed that the government is making constant efforts to improve the arrangements along the Yatra route for Kedarnath. He said that 50 spots had been identified by the department where arrangements for oxygen cylinders and portable oxygen have been made, so that no passenger has to face lack of oxygen support. ICU beds have also been established in Kedarnath Dham. The Health Minister said that, if any person in Kedarnath Dham needs to be referred to a higher medical centre, then arrangements for air ambulance have also been made.
It may be recalled that more than 31 persons have died since the beginning of the Char Dham Yatra due to health complications and the government has been blamed by the Opposition for inadequate arrangements for the Yatra, as also of health infrastructure along the Yatra routes.
In addition, Chairperson of the Badri-Kedar Temple Committee (BKTC) Ajendra Ajay today clarified that a video in circulation that had gone viral showing VIP darshans was actually of the year 2020 when Yatra was very restricted. It may also be recalled that BJP Spokesman Shadab Shams, whose video statement had also gone viral where he appeared to justify the deaths in Char Dham shrines was edited and had been broadcast following heavy editing, deliberately quoted out of context.
