Dehradun, 26 Jul: The Uttarakhand Government has issued orders directing government offices to work with full strength from now on. It may be recalled that Government offices were functioning with reduced staff strength in view of the Corona pandemic. Most offices, with the exception of those related to essential public services, were working with fifty percent of the staff strength in view of the pandemic. As per the orders that were in operation till now, apart from the reduced staff strength of deployment, elderly employees, pregnant women employees and those with comorbidity complications were discouraged from coming to offices. As the number of fresh Corona cases has abated, the government has now ordered all the offices to work at full strength in a regular way.
Orders to this effect were issued today under the signatures of Secretary (In-charge) Personnel Vinod Kumar Suman. It is pertinent to point out here that the working in the government offices had been badly affected over the past several months due to reduced attendance of the employees. As a result, those attending the offices too were not able to perform in a routine manner. In fact, despite the exemptions granted to offices related to essential public services, many public services had been badly affected due to the Corona outbreak and many complaints received in government offices could not be attended to in a satisfactory manner during past several months.
It may be recalled that, last year, due to the nationwide lockdown, many government offices remained closed and even when they opened after the relaxation in lockdown guidelines, they remained closed for the public. Even now, entry of people remains blocked under the pretext of Corona in many government offices. Now that just around fifty cases of Corona are being reported in Uttarakhand on a daily basis, the government offices have been mandated by the order to start functioning in a regular and routine manner.
