Dehradun, 8 Dec: The two-day state level Chintan Shivir, organised by the Higher Education Department, on various issues related to High Education concluded today. On the concluding day, Higher Education Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat called on all concerned to work towards quality education in all higher educational institutions. He also asserted that all private and government educational institutions would have to compulsorily get NAAC assessment by March 2023 for quality education. He also added that they would have to work towards employment generation, quality education, innovation and ranking in educational institutions.
Rawat stated that the state government had set a target of establishing 25 model colleges in the state by the year 2025. Uniformity would have to be ensured in the dates of admission, examination and student union elections in higher educational institutions. Apart from this, committees would be set up for gap analysis regarding the academic calendar, examination calendar, NSS and NCC.
He said that, before conducting NAAC assessment, NAAC training workshops would be organised in various districts of the state with the help of NAAC, Bangalore, so that colleges and universities could be facilitated in getting accreditation.
On the closing occasion of the Chintan Shivir, the minister asked the departmental officers to focus on five targets. He said that uniformity should be brought in the dates of admission, examination, result, convocation ceremony and student union elections in higher educational institutions. He also added that convocation ceremonies in universities should be conducted within one month and student union elections within a week. The departmental minister also gave instructions to ensure compulsory education for 180 days in higher educational institutions.
