Hike in salary of GB Pant University daily wage workers

PANTNAGAR, 30 May: Daily wage workers working in Govind Ballabh Pant Agricultural and Technical University, Pantnagar had been demanding a salary hike for the last several years. In a statement issued to the media, Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi said that this problem has been resolved and now thousands of daily wage workers will get its benefit.
According to the information received, the university administration will have to bear an additional expenditure of Rs 37 lakh per month on about 2600 daily wage workers. In the category of labourer, helper, watchman, salary has been increased from Rs 381 to Rs 476, while in the category of wireman, postal delivery, cook, salary has been increased from Rs 392 to Rs 490. In the category of driver, laboratory assistant, salary has been increased from Rs 403 to Rs 504, and for those doing clerical work it has been increased from Rs 420 to Rs 525.  Similarly in the junior ashram assistant, senior accountant and other categories, salary has been increased from Rs 455 to Rs 570.
On Thursday, former minister and Kichha MLA Tilak Raj Behad met Ganesh Joshi and expressed gratitude to the Agriculture Minister and the government on behalf of all daily wage labourers. He said that this step of the government has brought a wave of happiness in everyone’s families and everyone has appreciated this step of the government. He expressed special gratitude to the Agriculture Minister for the salary hike.
