DEHRADUN, 7 Dec: Prof Hoang Pham of Rutgers University said, today, that around two lakh cases of breast cancer in USA were detected with the help of mathematical techniques. Prof Hoang was addressing the Third International Conference on ‘Mathematical Technique in Engineering Applications’ at Graphic Era Deemed University, here, today.  Around two hundred experts from across the world are participating in this two-day conference. A total of 97 research papers will be presented at the conference.

Prof Hoang said that statistics and machine learning could be used in various field like business, engineering and medical sciences. With the help of these technologies, a large number of data could be minimised making it easy to analyse the data. He also said that the interface of mathematics and computer science could be applied to solve the problem of the various fields.

Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era Deemed University Dr Rakesh Kumar Sharma emphasised on the significance of mathematical principles in the field of engineering and also talked about the importance of the conference.

Prof Om Prakash Yadav of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Department of North Dakota State University said that it was important to have the right assessment of the products in order to increase the reliability.  For this, mathematical principles could be used to change the designs, which would help in increasing the quality of the products.

Former Professor of Delhi University and renowned mathematician Prof PK Kapur said that mathematical principles and functions could be used for software launching and testing, which would help in removing the defects of the products and the company would get a larger market place.

Prof Suresh Kumar Sharma said that information was available but with certain contradictions and Meta Analysis helped in solving this problem. Average blood pressure had been changed over time and this was the reason for variation in data, and Meta Analysis resolved such problems. Dr Debasis Kundu from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics of IIT Kanpur highlighted the importance of mathematical principles and techniques in daily life.

On the occasion, Chancellor of Graphic Era Deemed University Prof Dr RC Joshi, Vice Chancellor of GEHU, Prof Dr Sanjay Jasola, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GEU, Prof Dr HN Nagaraja, Head of the Mathematics Department of GEU Dr Ritu Chandana, Head of Mathematics Department of GEHU Dr Neeraj Dhiman, Convener of the conference Dr Mangeram, Dr Anand, Dr Seema, Dr Mukesh Kumar, Dr Tamsir, Dr Satyajeet along with other specialists were present on the occasion.
