Dehradun, 3 Oct: Rural Development Minister Ganesh Joshi formally launched a new series of Dehradun’s renowned Basmati rice under Uttarakhand’s prestigious brand House of Himalayas at the FRDC Auditorium in the Secretariat on Friday.
On this occasion, an organization of Dehradun Basmati producers was also formed, comprising around 40 farmers from the Vikasnagar and Sahaspur regions. These farmers follow traditional farming practices to cultivate Basmati, preserving its unique fragrance and exceptional quality.

Expressing confidence in the initiative, he said it would not only boost farmers’ income but also bring Dehradun Basmati to the forefront of national and international markets.
He added that a coordinated approach, modern branding, and traditional knowledge together can set an ideal model for rural development and agricultural enterprise.
The event was attended by Secretary Dilip Jawalkar, Rural Development Commissioner Anuradha Pal, Additional Secretary Jharna Kamthan, Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah, URRDA CEO Abhishek, along with several other officials.
