Mussoorie, 3 Mar: The only government hospital in Mussoorie is struggling due to shortage of doctors. As a result, the people of Mussoorie and dozens of surrounding villages are facing a lot of problems. As many as 23 doctors have been posted to the Mussoorie Sub District Hospital. Out of these, 8 have gone to study for PG degrees, three have been attached to Dehradun, while some others are on leave. As a result, only 5 doctors are currently at the hospital.
Recently, Ortho Surgeon Dr Arvind Rana from Mussoorie Sub District Hospital has also been attached to Vikas Nagar by the Secretary, Health, due to which the bone related patients have to face a lot of problems. Necessary class IV employees have also not been appointed in the hospital, creating problems of sanitation and other services. People of Mussoorie and dozens of surrounding villages depend on the sub-district hospital, but the situation here has gone from bad to worse.
Neither the health department nor the local administration, along with the local MLA Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi, have not taken corrective action.
CMS Dr Yatendra Singh of the Sub District Hospital said that he has written a letter to the higher authorities and informed them of the dire situation. He expects that soon some more doctors along with Class IV employees would be posted to the hospital.
