Dehradun, 3 May: “Microorganisms have no time to relax, they have to carry out life’s activities day and night.” This was asserted by experts at a National Conference held, today, in Graphic Era Deemed University.
The Conference was organised on the topic, ‘Microbial Innovations and Challenges: Opportunities for Sustainability’.
Director General, Uttarakhand State Science and Technology Council, Dr Durgesh Pant said that scientists are doing research on microorganisms with the help of technologies like Artificial Intelligence. This research work will play an important role in finding solutions to human welfare and environmental problems.
Senior scientist of the Indian National Science Academy and Professor of Acharya Narendra Dev College, Delhi, Roop Lal said that there are one trillion beneficial microorganisms as compared to 1400 harmful microorganisms on earth. Creating a balanced relationship with them would be beneficial for, both, the environment and humans.
A souvenir was also released on this occasion. More than 80 research papers were presented today in this two day conference.
The National Conference was organised by the Department of Microbiology in collaboration with the Department of Biotechnology, Department of Food Science and Technology, Graphic Era Institute of Medical Sciences, Graphic Era Hill University’s Department of Pharmacy and Department of Agricultural Sciences.
Dean, Life Sciences, Prof Priti Krishna, Prof Anita Pandey, HOD, Microbiology, Dr Anju Rani, HOD, Biotechnology, Dr Manu Pant, HOD, Food Science and Technology, Dr Vinod Kumar, Dr Divya Venugopal, Dr Gaurav Pant, faculty members, PhD scholars and students were also present.
