Dehradun, 8 Sep: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the Hindustan Shikhar Samagam organised at a hotel in Malsi, here, today.
On this occasion, in response to the question asked on ‘One Nation One Election’, the Chief Minister said that One Nation, One Election is completely in the national interest. This will bring many benefits. Many states have to face elections at different times in 5 years. Due to elections of Lok Sabha, Assembly, Panchayats and Municipal bodies being held at different times, development activities get hampered and more money is also spent. One Nation, One Election will be a good step for the progress of the country and taking the country forward in the vision of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat.
When asked that there are elections in Uttarakhand in 2027, if One Country One Election is implemented in the country, then elections will be held in the state also 3 years earlier. Are you ready for that? In response, the Chief Minister said, “Yes, definitely we work in such a political party, where the country is given the topmost priority and the party comes after that while the interest of the individuals is given least priority. Whatever decision will be taken in the interest of the country, we will agree to it, as personal things do not matter in that. National interest is paramount him and the other party leaders.”
In response to a question on implementing the Uniform Civil Code in the state before 2024, the CM said that the draft of the committee formed for this is in the final stage. After getting the draft, it will be implemented in the state. Uttarakhand would be the first state in the country, where the law of Uniform Civil Code would be applicable. UCC committee is working on all aspects. Its impact will go to the entire country, after a complete assessment of all the aspects, the draft is being finalised. If the draft is given by the committee before 2024, it would be implemented. In response to a question regarding the removal of encroachments, Dhami said that these are being removed from forest and government land. Instructions have been given to all the District Magistrates that the places where there have been settlements for a long time should not face any kind of problem. The process is on to regularise such settlements.
In response to a question regarding the anti-copying law, Dhami said that injustice was being done to the unemployed youth of the state for a long time. Investigations were carried out on the complaints of copying through various mediums. More than 80 people found guilty in this were sent to jail. A strict anti-copying law has been implemented in the state to ensure complete transparency in the examinations, to ensure that the candidates are selected according to their ability. After the implementation of this law, till now more than five and a half lakh candidates have appeared in the competitive examinations. All the examinations have been completed with full transparency.
In response to the question of building new hill stations in the hills, the Chief Minister said that an action plan is being prepared to build one new hill station, each, in Garhwal and Kumaon divisions.
