Dehradun, 24 May: The Rural Enterprise Acceleration Project (REAP) is connecting women members of self-help groups and federations formed under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) with livelihood-oriented and entrepreneurial activities to increase their income. As part of the project, ultra-poor families are receiving support to establish enterprises, including an interest-free loan of Rs 35,000.
In the Raipur block, Arti Devi from Bhole Self-Help Group living in Dhanola village of Raipur block has benefited from the Ultra Poor Package. She successfully started a cosmetics shop. Before her entrepreneurial journey, Arti used to rely on daily wage labour for her family’s survival. Now, with her new enterprise, she leverages her entrepreneurial skills to meet local demand for products.
Gayatri shares, “My experience with the project has been encouraging. Through financial support, I now earn a pure profit of Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,000 every month through the cosmetics shop.”
Under the guidance of the Chief Development Officer of Dehradun, the REAP project aims to benefit 451 ultra-poor families by providing project support for small-scale enterprises and income generation at the local level during the financial year 2024-25.
