Haridwar, 29 Nov: The objective of Patanjali University is to provide psycho-physical health to the students besides enhancing their knowledge and motivating them for overall personality development and self-improvement.

As part of this, an address by Alrich Burke, President of the German Association of Homa Therapy, was held at the University, on the topic, “Agnihotra and Homa Therapy for Mental Health”, for research scholars and post-graduates. Dr Burke is promoting Homa Therapy in various countries including Germany and making common people aware of its psycho-physical effects. Homa therapy is a short form of the Indian Yagya system which is being used for the purpose of treatment. The procedures, benefits, etc., of Yagya are also discussed in the Indian scriptures. This is the reason why auspicious works are started with Yagyas.

Dr Burke presented the scientific explanation of the effects of Agnihotra and Homa therapy on various aspects of mental health with references. Throwing light on the correlation between life and mind, he said that regular Yagya reduces the feeling of loneliness in a person and develops various types of cognitive abilities. He also explained the practical aspect of Homa Therapy to those present and also gave meaningful solutions to their questions.

Coordinator of the lecture programme and Dean of Research Faculty of the University – Dr Manoj Kumar Patria welcomed Dr Burke and discussed the benefits of Yagya. Pro Vice Chancellor of Patanjali University, Prof Mahavir Aggarwal, who presided over the programme, said that Yagya teaches the spirit of charity and harmony.

Swami Parmarthdev, the chief central in-charge of Bharat Swabhiman Trust, threw light in detail on the work being done in Patanjali University in the field of Yagya. Dr Nidhish Yadav also participated in the workshop. University professors and researchers including Dr Rudra Bhandari and Girijesh Mishra were present.
