Rudraprayag, 16 Jan: District SP Ajai Singh has initiated holding of a public-police “chaupal” to bridge the gap between police and the common man.
The new scheme, named Rudraprayag COPS (Community Oriented Policing System) will begin a police and public interaction and connect them on social media platforms too. A new helpline (no. 9410303070) has been set up to redress public grievances and obtain positive suggestions.
A data base of local public on the route to Kedarnath is being gathered to share maximum possible information during the yatra season. The Rudraprayag police media cell will gather relevant information from various government departments and share critical information with the general public and pilgrims.
Talks are underway with telecom companies to get automated messages to the subscribers from other states, who would get the relevant helpline numbers when they enter Rudraprayag district; as also information so that pilgrims coming during the yatra can get help if required.
A new media cell has been inaugurated at the SP’s office to monitor the helpline and other social media platforms.
