Sensei Jagmohan Vij included in National Referee Commission of Karate India

HOSHIARPUR, 7 Aug: Internationally renowned Karate referee, first and only certified judge of World Karate Federation and Asian Karate Federation from Punjab, Sensei Jagmohan Vij of Hoshiarpur has been appointed as a member of the National Referee Commission of Karate India Organisation (KIO) which is the national governing body of the Karate sport in India duly recognised by the World Karate Federation.

According to Shihan Rangila Ram Dhatwalia, retired Deputy Commandant, Indo-Tibet Border Police, and Technical Director, Okinawa Gojuryu Karate Federation of India, this is the best achievement achieved at the national level by any Karate coach or referee from Punjab. Jagmohan Vij is the first and only referee not only from Punjab but also from neighbouring states and UTs like Haryana, Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, etc., to be included in the National Referee Commission of Karate India.

According to Advocate Deepak Sharma, Working President, District Karate Association, Hoshiarpur, Sensei Jagmohan Vij is the first referee to be inducted into the Referee Commission of the National Karate Federation in the nearly 40 year history of Karate in Punjab.

Not only Punjab but Karate players and instructors from all over India have also warmly welcomed the move.

Sensei Jagmohan Vij expressed his happiness on this appointment and thanked Hanshi Bharat Sharma, Member, Technical Commission, WKF and mentor of Karate India Organisation, along with Kyoshi Vijay Tiwari, President, Kyoshi Sanjeev Jangra, General Secretary, KIO, with Hanshi Premjit Sen, Chairman, Referee Commission, for reposing faith in him.

Known for his fair and clean decisions, Sensei Jagmohan Vij is also recognised in the international karate world. Vij has international experience of more than 25 years of international karate competitions as a referee and judge organised in many countries including Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Philippines, USA, Italy, France, UAE, Nepal, Thailand, besides India. Vij has been invited to official karate competitions in universities and states to conduct Karate Championships as Chief Referee or Tournament Director, such as Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Assam, Odisha, Gujarat, Uttarakhand and Chandigarh, etc.

Jagmohan was also one of the five officials to represent India to officiate at the 25th Senior World Karate Championship held in Dubai recently.

Other senior WKF technical officials and RC members including  WKF Referee and Judge A Shihan Shaheen Akhtar, Kyoshi Haridas Govind, Shihan Anup Dethe, Shihan Ganesh Rajput, Shihan Kumar Vijay, Asian Karate Federation judge and World Karate Federation certified coach Kyoshi Mutum Bankim Singh, Shihan Siraj Ahmed Saifi, Punjab karate association’s  secretary Sensei Rajesh Joshi, Shihan Amit Shah, Dr Zakir Khan, Sensei Abhay Kumar Atul and Sensai Ravindra Suryavanshi, while congratulating Vij, expressed the hope that he would prove his worth in the National Referee Commission as well.
