Mussoorie, 8 Dec: The prestigious residential school, St George’s College, was presented the “Excellence in School Education Award 2019 for Sports Empowerment and Infrastructure Development” at the House of Commons, London, organised by IMT (Intelligent Minds Trust).
School Principal Bro Tomy Varghese received the award on behalf of the school at a function held recently. Bro Varghese was elated at receiving the award on behalf of the school and said he was deeply honoured, especially as it presented at the House of Commons. It was a moment of pride not only for the school but also for Mussoorie and the state of Uttarakhand. He said that the school had received second rank among boarding schools of India and first rank in Uttarakhand. The school worked towards all round development of the students and was aware of its responsibility to shape their character.
He congratulated the school staff, students and the parents on receiving this award. Bro Varghese said, recently, the school has converted the football ground of the school into an astro-turf ground, and constructed a multi-sports complex along with Geography Lab, Dance studio and other facilities necessary for the development of the students. The shooting range and indoor stadium were being constructed so sports would not be affected during the monsoon. He expressed satisfaction that students were doing better at the national and international sports levels by winning medals.
