DEHRADUN, 27 April: The Investiture Ceremony of St Thomas’ College for the academic session 2024-2025 was held with great pride and pomp at the Gardner Multipurpose Auditorium on Saturday. The ceremony was presided over by the Principal, RV Gardner. The Investiture ceremony signifies the trust and reliance which the school expects from the newly elected office bearers and instills in them a mark of respect and duty towards their alma -mater.
The ceremony began with the Principal reading out a prayer and later was followed by the oath taking ceremony. The newly elected Prefects took the oath to religiously follow the school motto ‘Build Ye High and Build Ye true’, and to fulfill their appointed duties. The Principal, Gardner inspired the team of office bearers with his wise words that with great positions come great responsibilities and that they should uphold the grace and decorum of the tradition with the utmost concern.
The newly elected office bearers were conferred with the badges and ties, starting with the two College Captains, Yashodhan Basnet (Boy College Captain) and Tanisha Chhabra (Girl College Captain).They both were bestowed with their badges and college flags by the Principal. The other office bearers of the various Houses were given their badges and House flags by their respective House Masters and House Mistresses.
The newly appointed Prefects then walked down the aisle with the flags held high, showcasing the dignity and respect of the ceremony and instilling in their juniors the spirit of loyalty towards their alma-mater. It was an awe-inspiring moment for one and all.
The ceremony concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by the Principal.
The prefects will be responsible for maintaining discipline, organizing extracurricular activities, and upholding the school’s values and traditions. We wish them all the best for their term and hope that they will make a positive contribution to the school and to the community.
