DEHRADUN, 21 Apr: On the occasion of the 45th National Public Relations Day, a Guest Lecture was organised by the Department of Mass Communication, School of Liberal Arts, under the aegis of Media Club at the Uttaranchal University, here. This guest lecture was based on the importance of social media for inclusive and sustainable PR. The National PR Day is dedicated to the profession of PR and to remind society about its crucial role in various industries. The moderator of the event, Anjulika Ghoshal, Assistant Professor at Uttaranchal University, addressed the gathering and welcomed the guest while marking the importance of the day. Dr Nitin Upadhyaya, Deputy Director and the Bhawan, delivered a lecture on the importance of the day and also mentioned the role of PR in any organization. He also referred to the role of Social Media in PR and how the growing cases of Fake News affect the same. He shared many facts about the PR industry and shared rich experiences of his PR journey. He emphasised the upcoming challenges for a PR professional and how to deal with it. He talked about Information Officer at the Raj media literacy and measures needed to stop fake news propagation. The lecture was interactive and ended with a Question and Answer round. Dr Upadhyaya answered the questions posed by the students. The event came to an end with the Vote of Thanks by the Head of the Department, Dr Jitender Sinha.
