Dehradun, 28 Jun: Shri Guru Ram Rai University has obtained recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC). Shri Guru Ram Rai University has made the record of being the first such university in the state of Uttarakhand to get recognition within just two years of its existence. It’s a considerable achievement to be recognised under Section 2(f) of Act 1956 of the UGC. Ordinarily, it takes 5 to 10 years for a university to achieve this goal.
Chancellor of SGRR University Mahant Devendra Dass has congratulated all the faculty members, teaching & non-teaching staff and students of the university on this achievement. In his message, the Mahant told all the members of the university that it was a golden opportunity for them to play their role in making Uttarakhand reach a new horizon in the disciplines of education, health & treatment, yoga & agriculture.
Vice-Chancellor of SGRR University Dr Pitambar Prasad Dhyani disclosed that the notification on the formation of the university was released on 27 June, 2019. The team of University Grants Commission inspected the university on 6-8 March, 2019. The eleven member team comprised one representative each from Medical Council of India, Nursing Council of India, Dental Council of India, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Pharmacy Council of India, National Council for Teachers’ Education and five representatives from University Grants Commission. They carried out a rigorous inspection of the university. During the inspection, the team inspected the university’s basic facilities, infrastructure, financial status, faculty numbers, research work done by the faculty, availability of essential books in the library, availability of national & international research papers & journals and various other parameters. Only after SGRR University proved itself up to the mark on all the parameters, UGC released the letter of recognition on 27 June.
UGC has particularly praised the significant works of SGRR University. These include the strong educational & legal responsibilities structure established by the university, financial capability, Wisdom document-2030, fully transparent exam pattern and the inclusion of SGRR University as a member in the Himalayan Universities Consortium, which includes 62 selected universities of the world.
After recognition from the University Grants Commission, Shri Guru Ram Rai University will be able to obtain grants from the various ministries and departments of the Government of India for its educational & research assignments.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Pitambar Prasad Dhyani informed all the members of the university that, now, the target of all ought to be a positive attitude, team spirit and hard work to make the university a leading one in the whole nation.
