U’khand Minister Ganesh Joshi visits Central de Abasto, Mexico’s largest market

Mexico, 25 Oct:  State Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi visited the biggest market of Mexico during his foreign tour. The total area of ​​Central de Abasto, one of the largest markets in the world, is 833 acres. As many as 5 lakh people come here every day to do business. Also, 60,000 vehicles and trucks, etc., make deliveries to this market every day.

During his meeting with officials there, the Agriculture Minister felicitated the Market Chairman with an Uttarakhandi cap. He obtained detailed information from the Mexican officials. The Minister also invited him to the Investors’ Summit to be organised in Uttarakhand in the coming month of December, to which he received a positive response. This would encourage trade between the markets of both the countries.

During his visit to the market, the Agriculture Minister also met the wholesale traders there and was briefed on the many types of fruits being marketed.

Issuing a statement after his visit, the Agriculture Minister focused on the cleanliness of the markets because Prime Minister Modi is continuously calling for awareness in this regard. He said that after returning to Uttarakhand, he would hold a meeting with the officials of the Agricultural Marketing Department and prepare a plan in this regard.

It is worth noting that an international conference of the World Association of Wholesale Markets is being organised in the city of Cancún, Mexico, from 25 to 28 October in which representatives of 112 countries will participate.  This conference is being held to advance agricultural marketing and the challenges in agricultural marketing at the international level.  Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi is representing Uttarakhand at the meet.

After that, there will be another 2-day conference in Germany on agricultural marketing and challenges, in which Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi will also participate.
