Dehradun, 12 Sep: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan visited the UPES Campus today along with Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, Higher Education Minister, Uttarakhand, and several senior officials.
The Minister inaugurated ‘UPES ON’: the new website of the UPES Distance Education Programmes being run under its Centre for Continuing Education (CCE). The inaugural event was a significant moment as Dharmendra Pradhan unveiled the new logo and identity of ‘UPES ON’, symbolising the University’s unwavering commitment to shaping the future of Education. The event brought together a distinguished gathering of industry thought leaders and eminent personalities known for their pivotal roles in shaping the landscape of education and technology. Chancellor, UPES, Dr Sunil Rai welcomed the ministers and guests.
Speaking on India’s overall development during his dialogue on ‘Amritkaal Vimarsh – Viksit Bharat 2047’, the Minister shared his insights on India’s Amritkaal journey. He applauded UPES initiatives and the commitment to making education accessible to all.
He shared the Prime Minister’s vision for development and growth ‘Bharat @ 2047’ and his firm belief in ‘Vasudev Kutumbhakam’ whereby Bharat considers the entire world as one family.
He stated that he had heard a lot about UPES as a progressive university, and on his visit today he found its standards to be higher than his expectations. He appreciated the University for helping in the overall development of the neighbouring villages and producing intellectual talent for the nation and the world. He praised the University Infrastructure and its initiatives to make education accessible for all; the Scholarships to the EWS and Sportspersons.
He quoted the G20 success, of Chandrayan and Solar Mission ‘Aditya L1’, and how the world now walks behind India.
Addressing the gathering briefly, Dr Dhan Singh Rawat appreciated UPES for transforming the careers and lives of thousands of students through its specialised educational programmes over the 23 years of its establishment.
As a part of this launch, UPES announced the offering of 100 scholarships which included opportunities for the Economically Weaker Sections and Sports Persons, too. This initiative, along with the diverse range of the Online Degree and Certification Programmes, underlines the commitment to providing education that empowers students and professionals across segments and industries, shaping them into leaders that will drive tomorrow’s world!
Thanking the visiting dignitaries, Dr Ram Sharma, Vice Chancellor, said, “One of the most exciting aspects of the new phase of the website UPES ON is the integration of AI into the curriculum. This pioneering step is designed to equip students with knowledge and skills that prepare them for tomorrow’s AI-powered world. The curriculum is thoughtfully crafted to empower working professionals pursue MBA, BBA, BCA, or Upskilling PG Certifications while balancing their work commitments.”
