DEHRADUN, 30 Apr: According to an earlier decision, the portals of the Badrinath Shrine were to open on 30 April, but owing to the Corona Pandemic, this was postponed to 15 May. A number of priests today performed worship of Badri Vishal at 4:30 a.m. today to seek forgiveness for the postponement.
It is for the first time in history that the portals of the shrine have not been opened on the designated day. The date is determined according to astrological calculations under the aegis of the Tehri Royal Family.
According to the Dharmadhikari of the shrine, Bhuvan Chandra Uniyal, the decision on postponement was taken after consultations between Chief Minister TS Rawat, ‘Maharaja’ Manujendra Shah and Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj.
