Dehradun, 22 Mar: The Press Information Bureau (PIB), under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, flagged off on Sunday a five-day press tour to Odisha for a 15-member media delegation from Uttarakhand.

The press tour has been organised with the objective of providing journalists an opportunity to observe key development initiatives and flagship schemes of the Central Government being implemented in the state. The delegation comprises 15 media professionals representing print, electronic, and digital media platforms, as well as freelance journalists.

Such press tours are regularly organised by the PIB as part of its outreach efforts to facilitate the dissemination of accurate information about government policies, programmes, and developmental initiatives through the media. These visits enable journalists to directly observe and understand development activities taking place across the country.

During their visit to Odisha, the delegation will explore several important Central Government institutions and projects related to agriculture, fisheries, infrastructure development, environmental conservation, and cultural heritage.

Speaking on the occasion, Sanjeev Sundriyal, Assistant Director, PIB Dehradun, said that the press tour serves as an important platform for connecting media professionals from Uttarakhand with the Central Government’s development initiatives in other parts of the country.

He further stated that the tour will provide journalists with first-hand exposure to various institutions and projects of national importance, enabling them to gain deeper insights into the implementation and impact of these initiatives at the grassroots level.

As part of the itinerary, the delegation will also call on the Governor of Odisha. The journalists will visit the Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, ICAR–National Rice Research Institute (Cuttack), Paradip Port, and the historic Konark Sun Temple.

The tour will also include visits to Nandankanan Zoological Park, Jagannath Temple in Puri, and Raghurajpur Heritage Village, which is internationally recognised for preserving traditional art forms such as Pattachitra painting and other handicrafts. Nearly every household in the village is engaged in traditional artistic practices that have been passed down through generations.

This initiative will help media professionals gain a comprehensive understanding of development initiatives and promote the dissemination of accurate and factual information among the public.
