Dehradun/New Delhi, 25 Mar: In response to a question raised in Parliament by Haridwar MP and former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Trivendra Singh Rawat, the Central Government has shared important information regarding the status and expansion of Fast Track Courts (FTCs) and Fast Track Special Courts (FTSCs) in the state.

Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Law and Justice and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Arjun Ram Meghwal, informed the House in his written reply that as of January 31, 2026, Uttarakhand has 4 Fast Track Courts and 4 Fast Track Special Courts in operation. These courts are primarily functioning for the speedy disposal of cases related to women, children, senior citizens, and heinous crimes.

He also clarified that the appointment of judges and staff in these courts is the responsibility of the State Government and the High Court, and necessary actions are being taken in this regard.

To ensure continuous monitoring of the judicial process, the Central Government is conducting regular review meetings with states and High Courts. Special emphasis is also being placed on the timely disposal of POCSO and other sensitive cases.

As a result of the continuous efforts of MP Trivendra Singh Rawat, 3 additional Fast Track Special Courts have been allocated to Uttarakhand upon the request of the State Government. These will be established in Dehradun (Vikasnagar), Udham Singh Nagar (Kashipur), and Nainital, which is expected to significantly accelerate the disposal of pending cases in the state.

In this regard, Trivendra Singh Rawat stated that this is an important step towards strengthening and expediting the justice delivery system in Uttarakhand. It will help ensure timely justice for the common people, especially women and children.

He expressed gratitude to the Central Government and said that under the leadership of Narendra Modi, continuous efforts are being made to make the justice system more effective, transparent, and citizen-centric.
