Gov felicitates personnel for Outstanding Work during Disaster

Dehradun, 1 Apr: Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) today felicitated personnel from Dehradun district who performed exceptionally during a recent disaster. The felicitation ceremony was held at the Lok Bhawan, here.

During the event, the Governor praised the dedication and professionalism of all awardees and described them as an inspiration for other personnel.

On the night of 15–16, 2025 September, the Sahastradhara-Karligad area of Dehradun district experienced heavy rainfall and a cloudburst, resulting in severe flooding. The district administration team promptly reached the site and began relief and rescue operations. Several personnel performed outstanding work during this disaster and were recognised by the Governor for their efforts.

The following officials and employees were honoured today – Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah; Additional District Magistrate Krishna Kumar Mishra; Sub-Divisional Magistrate Har Giri; Additional Judicial Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kumkum Joshi;

Deputy Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Aswal; Senior Medical Officer Dr MA Bhatt; Junior Assistant, District Information Office, Dehradun, Indresh Kothari; Lineman, UPCL, Dehradun, Aman; and Junior Engineer, Loni Vikas, Dehradun, Pradeep Shahi.

The Governor also specifically praised District Magistrate Savin Bansal, highlighting his role as a “frontline leader” during the crisis. He not only provided effective administrative leadership but also demonstrated excellent coordination and responsiveness with his team.

The Governor emphasised that disaster management and preparedness must be a top priority. He noted that during disasters, soldiers, security forces, administrative officials, and other personnel serve selflessly, often putting their own safety and comfort aside for the welfare of society and the nation. Their dedication and sacrifice serve as an inspiration for all.

Also present at the event were Secretary to the Governor Ravinath Raman, Additional Secretary Reena Joshi, District Magistrate Savin Bansal, and Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah.
