Dehradun, 8 Apr: BJP leader Ravindra Jugran today met the State President of BJP and Rajya Sabha MP, Mahendra Bhatt, to push for the early establishment of the Uttarakhand National Law University at Rani Pokhri in Dehradun.

Ravindra Jugran urged the State President to intervene in the matter and discuss it with the Higher Education Minister and the Chief Minister to expedite the establishment of the university. He stated that the land for the project was consecrated in March 2019, and the relevant Act was passed in 2011 and later amended in 2018.

He further noted that states like Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, which came into existence alongside Uttarakhand, have already established their National Law Universities long ago. Similarly, most Himalayan states and nearly all states in the country now have National Law Universities.

Jugran added that both the state and central governments have been led by the BJP for the past nine years. The state cabinet had approved the establishment of the National Law University at Rani Pokhri in Dehradun even before 2019, and this decision was also communicated to the Uttarakhand High Court.

He expressed concern that the delay in setting up the university is leading to speculation among the public and raising questions about the BJP government. He warned that the issue could become significant in the upcoming Assembly elections and that continued delays may cause embarrassment and damage to the government’s image.

The State President assured Ravindra Jugran that he would soon take up the matter with the Higher Education Minister and the Chief Minister.
