Dehradun, 20 May: BJP state president and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt today launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for describing the Prime Minister and the Home Minister as ‘traitors’. Bhatt described Rahul Gandhi’s remark as an affront to 140 crore citizens of India. Bhatt said the statement reflected an anarchic mindset and an urban Naxal mentality, and demanded that Rahul Gandhi issue an immediate public apology.
Bhatt termed the comment unfortunate and irresponsible and he stressed that at a time when the world is grappling with the Gulf war crisis, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has protected the country through diplomatic strategy and sound economic management. He pointed out that despite global recession, the pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine conflict, India has maintained inflation at 3.5 per cent and petroleum prices have risen only by 4 per cent, while many countries have witnessed double-digit inflation and fuel price hikes of 20 to 50 per cent. He added that the Prime Minister is actively engaging with other nations to strengthen India’s energy security and ensure that the economy continues to move forward.
Bhatt alleged that the economic stability achieved under Modi’s leadership is something the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi cannot accept. He said that repeated electoral defeats have left Rahul Gandhi frustrated and disheartened, leading him to resort to anarchic and insulting rhetoric. He argued that by calling the Prime Minister and the Home Minister traitors, Rahul Gandhi has in effect branded 140 crore Indians as traitors, a statement he likened to the language of Pakistan. He accused Rahul Gandhi of being controlled by anti-national elements and claimed that his words now resemble those of Maoists, the Muslim League and urban Naxals.
Bhatt further said that Rahul Gandhi has become a habitual offender with his irresponsible and derogatory remarks, having been reprimanded by courts on several occasions. He suggested that repeated electoral setbacks have left him unable to control his language and questioned his mental balance. Bhatt warned that the consequences of such statements will be borne by the Congress party in the court of the people in the days to come.
