HARIDWAR, 20 May: Breaking with the long-standing traditions of the Sanatani Akhaadas, Niranjani Akhaada head Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Kailashanand Giri, along with Akhil Bharatiya Akhaada Parishad president Ravindra Puri, paid tribute to former Chief Minister Maj Gen (Retd) BC Khanduri at the Khar Khadi crematorium in Haridwar. Traditionally, the sages and seers associated with the Akhaadas are not known to visit crematoriums. However, speaking on the occasion, Kailashanand Giri said it was rare to witness a person in politics with such integrity, honesty and commitment towards the nation. He said Khanduri upheld high moral values throughout his public life and consistently worked for the welfare of the people. Giri added that Khanduri was admired across the country for his impeccable service record both in the Armed Forces and in politics. Considering his immense contribution to the nation and society, the sages decided to set aside tradition and pay their final respects to him.
