Dehradun, 7 Jun: The WIC India Toastmasters Club successfully conducted its 544th meeting on Sunday at WIC, Rajpur Road. The meeting revolved around the thought-provoking theme “Wired Hearts: AI × Humans × Relations”, reflecting on how, in an age where artificial intelligence is woven into our phones, our devices, and our daily lives, it is still our human hearts – and not our machines – that truly connect us.
The meeting was opened by President Toastmaster Prakash Bhatt, who warmly welcomed members and guests, and was led by Toastmaster Manish Singh, who served as the Toastmaster of the Day, guiding the session through the theme and weaving the relationship between technology and human connection across the proceedings.
The prepared speech segment featured three speakers. Toastmaster Ashish Pal delivered a speech titled “Growth Begins Outside Your Comfort Zone”, Toastmaster Harry Sethi presented a thoughtful address on relationships, and Toastmaster Gaurav Mittal delivered his speech “A Small Pencil: A Big Impact”. The speeches were evaluated by Toastmaster Sarah, Toastmaster Pravin, and Toastmaster Anju respectively, who offered insightful and constructive feedback aimed at enhancing performance and delivery.
The Table Topics session was conducted brilliantly by Toastmaster Saurav, whose impromptu topics revolved around the meeting’s theme and drew enthusiastic participation from guests and Toastmasters alike, encouraging speakers to think on their feet.
The evaluation segment was led by Toastmaster Sagar Kushwah, the General Evaluator, ensuring meaningful learning through structured feedback. Supporting role players included Toastmaster Prakash as Timer, Toastmaster Ayush as Ah-Counter, Toastmaster Nidhi as Grammarian – who also introduced the Word of the Day, “gripe”, and the Idiom of the Day, “cut to the chase” – and Toastmaster Manish Joshi as Harkmaster.
