Dehradun, 12 Jun: President Droupadi Murmu today reached Dehradun on a two‑day visit. Upon her arrival, she was welcomed at Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun by Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Madan Kaushik, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Director General of Police (DGP) Deepam Seth and other senior officials.
The president’s convoy moved through Dehradun under tight security arrangements jointly managed by the police, SPG, intelligence agencies and other security units. Sensitive points along the route were fortified with additional personnel and continuous surveillance was maintained. Later in the day, the President arrived at Rashtrapati Niketan on Rajpur Road where special arrangements have been made for her stay. Tomorrow morning, she will proceed to the Indian Military Academy (IMA) to attend the Passing Out Parade (POP) as Chief Guest.

Preparations at the IMA are also in their final stage for the ceremony scheduled for tomorrow morning. Cadets from across India as well as some friendly foreign countries will participate and upon completion of their training they will be commissioned as officers in the Indian Army. The presence of the President is expected to lend added significance to this historic occasion, which is regarded as one of the most prestigious traditions of the Army. Families of cadets and senior officers will also witness the parade, where Gentleman Cadets take their final step into commissioned service.

It may also be reminded here that in view of the President’s visit, Dehradun has been declared a no‑drone zone, with restrictions on private and commercial drone operations around the venue and adjoining airspace. A traffic advisory was also issued today for the VVIP movement. SSP Dehradun Pramendra Dobal stated that extensive briefings have been conducted for the heavy police deployment, and station in‑charges have been directed to carry out round‑the‑clock checks at hotels, lodges, dharamshalas, bus stations and railway stations. Verification of outsiders and suspicious persons has been completed to ensure foolproof arrangements. The President’s presence at the Passing Out Parade will mark a moment of pride for Uttarakhand and the nation.
It may also be recalled that President Murmu has visited Uttarakhand and Dehradun in particular several times. Last year, she was here to lay foundation for several projects presently underway in Rashtrapati Niketan and Rashtrapati Tapoawan and Udyan.
