Dehradun, 1 Jul: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the Uttarakhand State Minorities Education Authority at a programme held at his official residence here today. He also distributed recognition certificates to various minority educational institutions. On this occasion, the CM also presented NCERT books to students of minority schools and said that this initiative in the direction of quality and modern education will provide a strong foundation for the future of students.
Dhami asserted that Uttarakhand, being a land of knowledge, education and spirituality, has a rich tradition of imparting knowledge and values to the world for centuries. It is the responsibility of the state to establish itself as a model for the country in the field of education. With this objective, the state government has established the Uttarakhand State Minorities Education Authority from today onwards, to provide quality, modern, and value-based education to all sections of society. The Madrasa Board has been abolished, and a new system has been implemented.

The CM said that this is not just the beginning of an institution, but a decision to lay a strong foundation for the bright future of every child in the state. The government’s goal is to provide equal opportunities to every child and enable them to move forward through modern education, technology, and skills. He emphasised that the current era is an age of knowledge, innovation, and technology, and it is essential that no child in Uttarakhand is left behind in this journey of development.
Dhami made it clear that the establishment of the Minorities Education Authority is not intended to affect the identity or traditions of any community, but to provide better educational opportunities to all sections. He claimed that the government’s effort is to enable children to remain connected to their cultural roots while becoming proficient in science, mathematics, computers, skill development, and modern education.
He said that education is not just a means of obtaining employment, but a powerful tool for empowering society, making it self-reliant, and creating awareness. Quality education enables young people not only to improve their lives but also to make significant contributions to nation-building.
The CM stated that, under the new system, all the notified minority communities will be provided with equal opportunities. Those sections that did not receive adequate representation in the previous systems will now have equal opportunities in the field of education.
He said that the National Education Policy-2020, implemented under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given a new direction to the country’s education system. This policy is not limited to degrees, but emphasises skills, innovation, research, entrepreneurship, and employment.
The Chief Minister said that the Uttarakhand government is promoting digital education, smart classrooms, skill development, start-ups, and modern training to prepare the state’s youth for future challenges.
He said that the Uttarakhand State Minorities Education Authority will not only be a recognising body but also a strong medium for quality education, teacher training, transparent systems, and effective implementation of the National Education Policy.
He added that the institutions being recognised today are not just receiving certificates, but are becoming part of a new thought and new system in the field of education. These institutions have the responsibility of creating knowledgeable, cultured, sensitive, and dedicated citizens of the nation.
He said that India’s greatest strength is its unity in diversity. Despite different languages, cultures, and traditions, being Indian is a unifying force. The state government is working with this spirit to develop all sections of society.
He appealed to the religious leaders, educationists, the educational institutions and the citizens of society to cooperate in making this initiative a success.
On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi, MLA Pradeep Batra, MLA Umesh Sharma Kau, Special Secretary Dr Parag Madhukar Dhakate, Chairman of the Uttarakhand State Minorities Education Authority, Dr Surjit Singh and other public representatives, religious leaders, educators, and managers of educational institutions were also present.
