Ambala, 6 Jul: The IGU North Zone Amateur Feeder Tour 2026 concluded successfully at KEPTA Golf Course, Ambala, after three days of exciting competition from 3 to 5 July. Despite extremely hot and humid weather, along with rain interruptions on the opening day, young golfers from different parts of India displayed remarkable determination and sportsmanship.
The tournament witnessed participation from more than 150 golfers across various age categories, making it one of the biggest North Zone junior and amateur events of the season. Players from Uttarakhand, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chandigarh and several other states competed for top honours.
The biggest attraction was the Category A Boys competition. Aman Sharma emerged champion with a total score of 141 (71-70). Samriddh Chand Thakur (Uttarakhand) produced an outstanding performance to finish Runner-up with 143 (69-74), narrowly missing the title by just two strokes. Rao Vardhan secured third place with 149.
Samriddh impressed everyone with his consistent ball striking and excellent short game throughout the tournament. His opening round of 69, despite difficult weather conditions, was among the best rounds of the championship and highlighted his growing stature among India’s promising junior golfers.
In Category B, Boys, Mananpreet Singh won the title with 155, followed by Pradhyumna V Upadhyaya (156) and Atiksh Tyagi (156).
Among Uttarakhand golfers, Medansh Singh Bisht finished in the Top-5, showcasing consistency and fighting spirit throughout the event.
In Category C, Boys, Arush won the title with 144, while Avviraaj Kalia (153) and Dhanya Deswal (157) finished second and third, respectively.
Uttarakhand’s Arihant Joshi displayed an improved performance to finish among the leading players, while Ridit Naithani also battled hard in a highly competitive field.
In Category D, Boys, Zorawar Singh Chahal claimed first place with 138, followed by Gitansh Singh Pathania (145) and Tansh Bansal (146).
Rushank Pratap Singh Sijwali of Uttarakhand earned appreciation for his determined performance against a strong field and continued to show steady progress.
In Category E, Boys, Shabd Agarwal (66) won the title ahead of Viraj Krishan Chaudhri (69) and Lakshit Deswal (70).
Young Uttarakhand golfer Snitik Chand Thakur impressed with his confident play and composure, indicating bright prospects for the future.
In Category F, Boys, the top three finishers were:
Saveer Singh Pruthi – 76; Taksh Chopra – 79;
Yuvaan Agarwal – 87.
In Amateur Category, the title was won by Ansh Dhingra (137), followed by Trish Kalkat (139) and Sumit Sharma (139).
In the combined Category A & B Girls event, Ojaswini Mahajan emerged champion. Alaina Joshi produced an excellent performance to finish Runner-up, confirming her place among the promising young golfers of the North Zone.
The challenging weather conditions tested every participant, but the young golfers displayed remarkable resilience throughout the three-day championship. Rain on the opening day and intense humidity over the remaining rounds made scoring difficult.
Players from Uttarakhand once again proved their growing strength in Indian golf. Performances by Samriddh Chand Thakur, Alaina Joshi, Medansh Singh Bisht, Snitik Chand Thakur, Arihant Joshi, Ridit Naithani and Rushank Pratap Singh Sijwali reflected the state’s steadily improving junior golf programme and promise for the future.
