St George’s College clinches Bro GP Gannon Soccer Tournament 2026 Title

Mussoorie, 30 Jul: The Brother GP Gannon Soccer Tournament 2026, hosted by St George’s College, Mussoorie, concluded on a thrilling note today after five days of exhilarating football action, showcasing exceptional talent, teamwork and sportsmanship. The tournament, which commenced on 26 July, brought together eight prestigious schools: CJM Hampton Court, Mussoorie; Oak Grove School, Mussoorie; Wynberg Allen School, Mussoorie; Nirmala Inter College, Mussoorie; St George’s College, Mussoorie; Kasiga School, Dehradun; St Patrick’s Academy, Dehradun; and St Joseph’s Academy, Dehradun.

The final day witnessed two fiercely contested semi-final matches, followed by an exciting championship clash that kept spectators on the edge of their seats until the final whistle.

In the first semi-final, St George’s College overcame Oak Grove School with a hard-fought 2–1 victory to secure a place in the finals. Tsewang opened the scoring for St George’s College in the 22nd minute, while Shashwat netted the decisive goal in the 46th minute.

Abhyanand Pandit scored Oak Grove School’s lone goal in the 10th minute.

The second semi-final saw Wynberg Allen School produce a dominant performance to defeat Kasiga School 4–0. The goals came from Anshh Mittal (10th minute), Tenzin Legden (32nd minute), Aarav Singh (43rd minute) and Manan Jain (51st minute), sealing their place in the championship final.

The much-anticipated final between St George’s College and Wynberg Allen School showcased football of the highest quality, with both teams displaying remarkable skill, determination and discipline. Rising to the occasion, St George’s College emerged victorious with an impressive 2–0 win to lift the coveted championship trophy.

Kartik gave his team the perfect start by finding the net in the 5th minute, while Heeyaikhomba sealed the victory with a well-taken goal in the 48th minute.

The Closing Ceremony was graced by Brother Alphonse Tirkey, Principal, Nirmala Inter College, Mussoorie, as the Chief Guest. Congratulating both the champions and the runners-up, Brother Alphonse Tirkey commended all the participating teams for displaying exemplary sportsmanship, discipline and competitive spirit throughout the tournament. Addressing the young footballers, he encouraged them to continue striving for excellence both on and off the field, reminding them that true success lies not merely in winning trophies but in cultivating character, teamwork, perseverance and respect for one’s opponents. He also appreciated St George’s College for successfully organising the tournament and for providing young athletes with an outstanding platform to showcase their footballing talent.

Also present on the occasion were Brother Jeyaseelan S, Principal, St George’s College, Mussoorie; Brother Britto, Superior and Sports Secretary, St George’s College; Brother Sylvanus Kerketta, Vice-Principal, St George’s College; and Brother Lawrence Kujur, Assistant Sports Secretary, St George’s College.

In recognition of his outstanding performances throughout the tournament, Abhyudhaya of St George’s College was adjudged the Best Player of the Brother GP Gannon Soccer Tournament 2026.

The final day’s matches were officiated by Pushkar Singh, Milan Chhetri and Satish Kulashri, whose fair, impartial and professional decisions ensured the smooth conduct of the games.

The Brother GP Gannon Soccer Tournament 2026 concluded with a grand Prize Distribution Ceremony, during which the champions and runners-up were felicitated for their exceptional performances.
